    Exclamation coolant change

    hi there i am going to put some new coolant into my engine and change the thermostate the problem i have is my digital c/c for the heater does not work at all ,i am wondering can i just run the engine with the radiator cap off when i have replaced it with new coolant to get all the air out of the system as i cant use the heater does anybody think that i would have temp problems it is the 5litre efi

    I think the heater switch defaults to open when it has no vacuum, so pull of the vacuum hose and it should open up and let the water flow into the heater box.

    If you are going to do the radiator cap make sure its the highest point, park it on a hill with the nose facing up the slope

    Just fill up the radiator with coolant and run the engine with the radiator cap off and keep topping up until the radiator begins to overflow. Then replace the cap. The 5l engine automatically bleeds the air out of the cooling system over a couple of days. You will have to top the overflow tank up with coolant over the next few days after which the level will stabilise.
