Default How long do the good leads, plugs last for.

    Hey guys,

    I have a mild vs ss 5lt.

I replaced my leads and spark plugs last year, with $150 bosch leads and $160 spark plugs (cant member what they was called but was the best ones there) from supercheap and Just wondering when should I change them again?

Should I replaced them often or just went they stuff up?
Dont the top notch spark plugs and leads meant to last a very long time?

Also please dont say the expensive ones are worthless and not needed coz thats not what my question is asking, thanks.

I recently replaced a set of NGK's that were 5 years/120,000km old - never re-gapped or unscrewed them during that time and they were still firing OK. Didn't replace the leads which are the same age. Mine were the cheapest so I'd have to say that at a minimum with better quality plugs/leads you would get at least that mileage.

Platinum or iridium plugs last longer ie more kms and are ideal for hard to get to spots. ignore WogBoz comments on a time period, normally it is about 80,000kms bit since its not hard to take them i would pull them out every 6 months and check the gap and condition of the plug, give them a clean and reset the gap and put them back in

depends on the car, so many things can effect the life of plugs, if your running lean for some reason for example or if too much oil is getting past the rings they will foul and need a clean, leads I assume are the same, if they foul on the exhaust or if your having electrical issues that are stressing them too much (thats a guess though)

I remove, inspect, clean and regap my plugs every 10k, plugs can tell you so much about an engine.
