hi there i need a bit of help have had a read through on the seach, but want to know do i have to remove the steering rack from both wheels by undoing the tie rod ends from the wheels then the two bolts (ithink there are two bolts) that hold the steering rack to the chassis, once that is done does the drivers side extractor have to drop out the bottom as there is bugger all room up top with the ABS system there, i know this must be a silly question but haven't managed to buy a manual yet and your help is much appreciated.![]()
going underneath is the only way for the drivers side and you will have to have the car pretty high and i only just had to undo the 2 bolt holding the rack in.
passenger side should come straight out the top pretty easy

u need to drop the rack to get the abs side in if u got abs that is if not u shouldnt have a problem?
pass side comes in / out from the top. drivers side is a bitch. u need to undo the two bolts holding rack to k frame and drop the rack down. dont undo the tie rod ends. then once the car is up high enough you should be able to manouver it out underneath. if you still cant then u will have to take the drivers side engine mount bolt out and slightly lift the engine up this will help.
cheers for all the help will attempt that today as the extractor has a crack in it and i need to get it out so i can weld it up cheers
well got all the bolts undone extractor loose but do you think it would come out oh no, i also undid the steering rack but no matter what i did the steering rack would not drop down so i could get the extractor out, looks like it was catching on the powersteer hoses, so any other suggestions, if i didn't have the ABS system there i might of better luck,![]()
may have to take the psteer lines off the rack to get it to drop back. you will more than likely have to undo the drivers side engine mount bolt and lift the engine slightly too man.... PITA....
I always take the engine mount bolt out and tilt the engine, makes things heaps easier.
