HSV Manta No Spark

Hi i have a 95 HSV 5.0Ltr Manta with a no spark problem,one lecco told me it was the coil so i replaced it with a new Bosch one but still no go i have since borrowed a working V8 ignition module (the one on the inner guard) still no go . simptoms before it died was a strange rattleing noise what sounded like a crook cat or muffler so i replaced both cats ,rattle still there , whenever you hear the strange rattle the tacho jumps round like crazy and the ltrs/klm reading is jumping around as well. when it died i just jumped in it to go somewhere started it as usual ,it ran and then just cut out ,idont seem to be getting a spark from the coil

Sounds like a short somewhere. When a lead jumped off the plug on my VR SS on cylinder #1 it was sitting on the body in the engine bay, causing the tacho to jump around something fierce and also caused a rattling noise through the speakers.

It probably isn't something as simple as what mine was, but it seems to have similar symptoms.
