Hey guys,
I've got a VS S pack v6 auto, it has VS S/C CAI, high flow filter and catback exhaust on it.
i'm wandering what my options are performance wise as the next step. i have been ringing around for prices on extractors and high flow cat but i dont want to spend this much on it. (at least $1000).
I am thinking about getting it chipped and dyno tuned and maybe roller rockers.
if i do the chip then i wont be putting extractors on in the future because i will have to get it re-chipped.
so what do you think? am i on the right track or am i jumping a few steps ahead?

Does anyone ever search?

Yeah seriously mate, use the search function up top of the page, this topic has been covered a million times.

I have been on here a relatively short time ... and even in that time i see a lot of the same questions asked by a newcomer ..... For those that have been on here for years i imagine that it becomes very tedious to say the least.
people will help you but you gotta show you have made some effort yourself
Have fun doing your next mod...![]()
i'm asking for an opinion on whether or not chipping my car is going to make that much of a difference without extractors or if it is pointless.
cant search for opinions

Can't search for opinions? What else would you put on forums?
This is how you search, bang this into google -
performance upgrades site:forums.justcommodores.com.au
Alternatively, you can look to the top of the VR/VS section to the thread that says -
Buick and Ecotec V6 Performance Upgrades
Personally, I think performance chips are a waste of time all together.
Because they are expensive, and usually just trick your computer into pumping more petrol through, and for the amount of money you spend on it, you could put it to much better use (for example, those extractors).
Putting extractors on won't require a re-tune.
The Commodore cats are also quite good already, you only need a hi-flow if your cat actually needs replacing or you are pushing serious power. The benefit it will give will be negligible.

-extractors
-High ratio rockers
-stage 2 shift kit
chipping without extractors is a pretty useless task, i'd wait and get some cash before you start spending money on anything. and yeah search function is ur best mate
thanks guys.
the stage i am at is i want a bit more power out of the car now without spending heaps on it as i am upgrading at the end of the year. so dont want to be spending big money on this car when i could save the most of it and put it towards the new one.
kind of understand? might PM greenfoam and see what he can do??

i might be missing something here... but why the hell would you spend anything on the car if your gonna get rid of it in less than 6 months![]()
because i have the money to spend on it now which i didnt before. and i've got a taste of a bit of power for it and i want a bit more.

Actually a chip is one of the only things i'd do if i was selling the car in 6 months. It'll cost you about $50 and you'll be happy with it. You could also pick up a second hand pair of extractors for $200, or grab some new ones for $500ish, and when you sell the car, refit the originals and sell the extractors for $200. So all up you loose maybe $350 for a powergain within those 6 months. Outside of this you're looking at engine mods or diff/trans work, both of which arent worth it for you.
