my friend has a vq statesman 4spd auto 215kw and my other friend has vs clubsport 185kw 5speed manual only thing that isnt standard is K&N pod witch one do u think would win in a race?
Hard to say, tell them to drag thats the only way you can find out, people can say what they think but nobody will know unless they drag
I think it will be fairly even. When it comes down to it. Its only a 30kw difference. When u think about VNs with 124kw or something taking on VR,VS,VTs.. and keeping up.
The other thing is the human factor in drag racing.. it really comes down to who has the better reaction time off the mark ( eg. lights go green ) if you can launch it off the mark, with minimal wheelspin with good traction that little bit quicker than the other guy, I bet 8 times out of 10, u'll come off as the winner, when the cars are either very close in power or evenly matched.
But my moneys on the 185kw Clubsport. Simply because its manual. I think it will just beat the Statesman. " But winnings.. winning." To quote a bad movie.
manual dont mean shit
autos will rape a manual off the line
the vq for sure, lighter car, and its an auto
providing its a healthy 5L, it will kill the clubsport
lol ... autos rape manuals off the line????? go back to the ford forum mate![]()
Yes a Auto will kill a manual off the line. You can stall it up to get the revs up, if you do the same in manual and dump the clutch instant wheel spin. Why do you think every quick car at the track is a auto.
My mate has a M6 VZ S Ute and I can get him off the line everytime............

Manually shifting an auto is just.. so lame.
And launching in a manual, can be done, just requires more skill to do it right.
Statesman is a luxury car and is not intended to race.
Chances are it is also heavier than the clubsport.
Clubsport to win,
But for what it is worth i kick my mates VR GTS 215kw 6 spd manual
everytime we have a play. Dont take him too long to pass me
back however. Comeon.... i'm in a VS V6 Statesman.
What hope have i got?![]()
what has he done to get 215kw out of it? unless its a grange they never had that option in the first place, and they are also the aussie 5.7L not 5.0L.
KW does not win a race Torque does and a stroker 215I will much a 185I clubby manual or not.
Manuals can be launched yes but an Auto is more consistant for 1/4mile usage.
my mates VS grange does 14.83@91MPH i run a 15.23@94mph so im getting more MPH but his take off due to the 3.45LSD is alot better hence the lower time, race from freeway speeds ill crawl away from him.
well my mates had a drag and the cluby just won.
then i think the stato is a little bit less than 215KW![]()
he has a performance chip and exhuast and that kind of stuff to get it to 215kw but not at the wheels but i think its only like 200kw at the most at flywheel.
auto's are for people who cant drive (nana) they are easier to get of the line but not quicker 215 kw auto loseing to 185kw man proves this plus a auto robs more power the weight of these two cars would have been very similar.
Told ya's.
with just chip and exhaust he will only be around the 185kw mark as well not 215, he would need a bit of head work to reach the 215 mark, HP isnt that easy to get. and remember they were 165kw stock!!Originally Posted by DazVYSS
set of 3.55/3.73 diff would then see the clubby on the wrong side.![]()
Im not talking manual shifting a stock auto............and why would most people with manuals wanting to run quick/quicker times switch to an auto......plus an auto can be made to handle more power cheaper..........Originally Posted by bextor84
Dont get me wrong I love drivin a manual, but I think all you manual people are living in the clouds sometimes...........
Plus without knowing exact power fiqures its abit hard to work out who would win..............

well he thinks he has a vs senator chip but i didnt think the senator got 215kw with just a chip i thought they did other things and its a 5.7l isn't it?
You need the chip and the knock sensor, plus they used different headers and exhaust.

its the standard diff ratio and the extra weight upfront my friendi bet once your chumb hits 60ks, hes about to pass u, and i can assure u, your never going to catch him
a chip and an exhaust does not equate to 215i, it equates to the 185iOriginally Posted by greatone
the 185 was the standard 5L 165kw motor with the following
knock sensor, different memcal, dual exhausts, cai
the 215 was a completely different kettle of fish
5.7L aussie stroker motor, bigger injectors, stronger crank, different memcal etc etc
they do live in the cloudsOriginally Posted by AirStrike
my vr ss (auto) knocks off a mates vt ss (5spd) manual, and he has the more powerful roller motor at 179kw, while mines at 168kw
im off the line, and thats that, he doesnt catch me
agreed, manuals are fun to drive (i have a manual licence) but man, give me an auto to drag anyday over a manual
hey, look what 99% of the big bangers that appear at the drags are?
they're auto![]()
Stock autos are sluggish and use a lot of power, manuals potentially are faster but wheel spin is hard to control. In reality it comes down to the driver. A 10y.o can get in an auto and hit the gas, no skill there. Takes a lot to control manual.
VTs weight to much, and again it comes down to driver skill and conditoins. Rain, dry etc
You sure yours is 168kw?? They went to that power figure wit the VS SII...........Originally Posted by ChRiDDa
