Vr transmission problems

hey people, my car has been sitting in the drive way for a bit coz the reverse gear doesnt work.......any advise on how to fix it, do i get a new trans or just repair it, and most importantly the costs involved

are u only restricted to third gear as well?

umm well its actually my mates car so im askin for him so i dont know, do ya reckon ill need a new trans????

depends; could be a really dirty filter and trans fluid. but if he is restricted to third gear as well when taking off then it could be in LHM (limp home mode). and a new tranny may be the go, or second hand one from the wreckers
