    Default VS III V8 Ute Auto to T56 Manual Conversion - Advice Required?

    I have a VS III V8 Auto Ute http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k...ktribute_2.jpg and I am keen to convert it to manual. Ideally I would like to put a T56 6-Speed Manual into it rather than the 5-Speed.

    Can anyone offer me some advice on how I could go about it and whether they know of anyone in Sydney who could do the work.

    All advice appreciated.

    Check this thread out -

    The complete Vn-Vr Manual Conversion Guide.

    Same basic concept.

    You may have to go slightly custom for the T56, Stealthy would know. Your best bet is speaking to him and Mal Wood.

    is there any difference with the t5 and the t56 because I have a t5 manual in my vs ss 5lt and was thinking going a 6speed conversion or would it just be a waist?

    What do you mean by difference?
    T5 = 5 speed.
    T56 = 6 speed.

    It's not cheap if thats what you're asking.

    i would build up an auto.
    The more power you add to the motor the harder it becomes to drive with the six speed manual.
    But a good thing is with the manual 6 speed you can really up your gear ratio with your diff.

    Are you sure you know what your talking about with 2 posts under your belt? Especially about it being harder to control with a six speed manual with some added power?

    So, why do trucks have so many gears? And, why is a six speed box being incorporated with the more powerful LSx?

    Brand new, your probably looking at a $2.5k-$3k minumum for the box, then the money for labour. Could easily cost up to $5000 (probably at the expensive end). It's not a cheap job. Shop around, nobody here is going to give you a definite price (unless they have done it).
