help! handbrake is stuck!!

when i bought my car there was no button on the handbrake, but a few days ago my dad got a buttton and spring off an old toyota he had and out them on my handbrake, it worked fine, but today when i pulled it up the button went abot 10cm down the hole of the handbrake, and now its stuck, even when i tried pushing the button down as normal it stays up. what do i need to do, am i going to need to take it to the mechanic? GRRR..

no your not goin to have to take it to a maechanic its just the mechanism by the sounds of it. Just pull it down and fix whatever needs fixing.

i did the exact same thing on the weekend.
ur screwed really. lol
get under neath the car and undo the bolt that tightens the handbrake, undo it so the hand bake is really off. drive it to mechanic get them to put a new system in it. a new system is like 60 bucks. took 2 hours to do
