Default tell me about torque converters.

i thought my trans was slipping today ( just chucked a delcowizard chip in, goes nice!) gunning round in power mode as you do and i thought i noticed some slipping in my trans , talked too someone in the know about it and apparantly its just the torque converter doing its job , so tell me .... how do i know when my trans is slipping or when its just the torque converter doing what its meant too do.

depends on what sort of revs its slipping at the torque convertor wont get to its stall point till a we way up in the revs its most likely the extra rpm before the shift you are noticing more than anything or the auto is a bit on the tired side and could do with the line pressure upped a little once you get your shiftkit installed and the box serviced it should be fine.

id say it would be around after 3.5k its doing it , only if in power mode and not very often.
just tryed the same kind of driving in economy and the wheels actually spun a bit coupled with the `slipping`.

The TCC will be applied in third and fourth even with the power button engaged, so maybe this is whats happening.

hmm, not really much i can do about it till i get my shift kit done is there? seems too be a fair bit of power going too waste.
doesnt slip in 1st or 2nd either so i guess that indicates the torque converter , either way its not an issue until im driving like i shouldnt be :P
