I have sighted the oil leak and its pissing out the rear of the pump . I read a fair bit on this forum about this subject .
I haven't done a seal replacement before .Is the shaft seal easy to do ????. Or dont worry about it ???
the easiest way is to buy a reco pump and change it over.

if it's leaking from the rear it's just a 'O' ring. fairly simple to replace

I just replaced all the seals on my pump, I invented some new swear words in the process.
I had to do the whole thing as mine was leaking from the shaft.
Getting the little spring clip off the shaft end is the biggest pain in the arse and then removing the old shaft seal, its stuck in there pretty good. Just tapped the new seal in with a hammer.
sorry mate, it's not a circlip unfortunatly. it's just a wire ring that fits in a groove around the shaft, nothing as fancy as a circlip

Haha yes that little ring is a pain in the ass! Mine got slightly bent after I got angry with it. But just squashed it back into shape and all was forgiven.![]()
I lost the ring on the last pump I was doing, it went FATOING!!!!!!!! I through the lot in the scrap metal bin after that, anger does such wonderful things.
Yes, I got a little angry when doing the seals, the high pressure hose wouldn't come off so i ended up cutting it and then with the pump out of the car and in the vice i still couldn't remove the high pressure hose and ended up swinging a hammer wildly at the pump a few times in anger. hit the valve thingy that the line screws into and busted up the thread... plus side was the hose came out.. but i needed to replace the valve thingy as the thread inside was looking a little square![]()
Nothing like a few "love taps" with a hammer! I was expecting the hose to be a hassle but managed with an open end spanner. Must have been taken off before. The outlet/valve fitting on the other hand wasnt so simple. I broke a shifter in the process, before taking it to a mates place and found a 1" socket, long breaker bar and decent vice does the job easily.
