dashboard lights dont work

i just installed a new head unit and now that it is connected i have realised that my dashboard lights aren't working when my headlights are on so now i cant see how fast im going in the dark!
has this happened to anyone else?
what do i need to do to get them on again?

Stupid question but.. You check the fuse?

i did check the fuse. they are all good.

Are there any connectors that you had to disconnect that you didn't connect up again? Do all the instruments work except for the lights? If they do, then maybe the globes have blown.
