hey guys... might be just a wagon thing..
but if i have like 1/4 tank of petrol and park the car on a slope with the car on a lean to the left.... when i go to start it you can hear the fuel pump really trying ta suck up fuel cause it's all gone to one side of the tank...
i have to quickly put it in gear and get going other wise it will stall itself from lack of fuel
do all VR and S do this? or wats the go??\
can it be fixed??
mine doesnt do it man, is urs auto or manual?
My sedan use to do it every now n then if the petrol was really low. was told that the picklines were set too high?? didnt get around to fixing it before i sold it thou
mine does it too, had to go rescue the missus the other day when she parked in a sloping gutter. Had to jack up one side start it the dump it down and get her to drive off![]()
hmm, is it cause the pump is at the front?...
where are the pick-up lines in the tank?...
i wonder if the pump could be relocated.. (im not gonna do it cause i CBF but yeah..) when i first bought the car it happened to me... had to call NRMA to come tell me wat was going on with it..
hey man i have had this problem as well but not as sbad as it wont start or anything
if its got low fuel then it will wine, the pump that is.also pumps can wine aswell when they are on t he way out. this happened on my vn whitch had a walbro 225lt per hour pump in it.just keepo the fuel up and it should be ok
better yet...dont park the car on a slope with the car on a lean to the left and youll be sweet :P
mine does it also when turning right on quarter of tank or less ...fully shuts of i checked all the vapor hoses going to the tank for overflow and charcoal canister ect ad there wernt any left they had freyed awayand were sukin air
so replaced them and it stil does it the pump is prob ***ed from suckin air and i might check the pickup lines
...
obviously its a problem that a few of you have with your vr/s's, but i wouldn't say its "normal"
A friend has a vr that sometimes wont start when low on fuel, (he recons similar, around 1/4 or less) maybe the same thing
ive had mine really low almost fuel light comming on and i had it parked on my steep driveway and it started without any problems, does anyone else here not have any of these problems?
It happend the day I got my wagon was not going to buy it it never happend since
yeah but living where i live (rural town) most of the parking is alongside the gutter so it's a bit hard not to park like that... its not a big deal though i rarely have less than a qaurter tank in it. but when it does get low it's annoying as, oh well.
i notice in my vs if i turn hard left or continue going left following a long corner, the fuel needle will drop... and also if the car is on a slope...weird how you guys are experiencing it in the opposite direction to me
mm that is strange... i know my needle is really jumpy... like, you go around a right hander and it'll say i have less fuel, but go around a left and it'll say i have heaps more than wat i actually do... (so i try and drive around left hand corners most![]()
)
I know on wagons the pump sits fairly well towards the drivers side thus the reason why parking sideways in the gutter lets all the fuel go to the passenger side and starve the fuel pump. Its not a problem, just a design fault when you consider which way we park and the way our roads are sloped ect... The fuel pump should be more on the passenger side.
My wagon has done it twice, once when I was parked on a slope and the passenger side of the car was much lower than the drivers side, still had 1/4 of a tank on the gauge, other time I was just above E and parked nose down in a gutter(dumb), I had to get the RACV to bring me some fuel, as we could not push the heavy barge back up the hill.
