just wondering how you would go about quietening down a 2,5 catback with extractors without losing any power.... sacriledge i know but i can just see me getting defected for too noisey.
i still want to be able too hear it ofcourse..... just not so ummm cop magnetish.
Could always chuck a rear resi onit if you dont have one

yep its not that loud when cruising, ive just chucked in a tuned memcal which changes up gears later in the revrange so thats making a bit of a difference ..... and my right foot ofcourse :P
if its that loud, your missing at least one of your mufflers... put them back in
wouldnt adding an extra muffler effect airflow? i thought the whole point of a 2.5 catback straight through was airflow.
ive got cai , ectractors and the catback... why would i want to go restricting it?
Can't have your cake and eat it too. There seems to be a flood of people who want to "do something" without it "doing something else" recently.
There was that chick who wanted to put a cat back on her V6 but didn't wanna get defected for having a mod on her P's also.
Muffler, or go back to a stock exhaust. Your 2.5" cat back won't be doing much for your car in the way of power anyway dude, a muffler will make almost NO difference to power anyways. Exhausts on stock 6's are more for noise and not for power (unless you have forced induction, cam and those kinds of things).

Three inch would be a loss on whatever power the car has. Loss of back pressure. Three inch is MASSIVE for a V6.

i LOVE the way it sounds now, i just dont want it having too go over the pits at regency and never being driven again.
I ran 5.3 0-60mph in an un-opened VP 5 litre that had done over 300,000 km. My exhaust = pacemakers, hi-flow cat (single) and a 2 1/2" single system including the rear muffler. Oh - it sounds awesome too. That setup will be all you ever needed on any bolt on v6 or 5 litre VN-VS.
If you have more power then maybe consider a twin 2 1/2" system and dual cats. Either way you need to keep the rear muffler.
Reaper
add another muffler and ur done.
EDIT: Reaper bet me to it
i got a 2.5 inch exhaust on mine and the bloke that did it was a really good bloke recommended a rear resonator man it was a little bit quiter than the normal drone but it has its own unique tone now and it aint cop bait win win m8 i reccomend a rear resonator not a huge one though![]()
yeh i dont want to loose the burble from the extractors either , will that be ok?
Well that doesn't leave you that many options dude. It's either muffler / resi, or just try not to drive it so the exhaust roars out.
There isn't really much else you can do.

In the case of this exhaust, put another muffler on anyway, if your so concerned about loss of power, then get over it, seriously. An exhaust system on a stock 6 without many other supporting mods will give you such a small power gain you won't notice it. 1-5kw at MAX I would say.
Just ask for a "hot dog' insted of a full sized resi
