Don't know if this helps. I assume the shudder appears or is felt quite suddenly at around 80Kmh ?? If so its probably the torque converter locking the input and output shaft.

Whow, now I'm going back to 1991 ! I had a V8 VN calais that started doing exactly what you describe after about 19,000km. It would occur at about 80kmH when the torque converter went into lock mode. Backing off eliminated the shudder like yours does.

Holden replaced the auto under warranty, and it did exactly the same thing. Then after a very stern discussion Holden replaced it a second time and all was sweet up to the time I sold it at 160,000km.

    Good luck

the TCC clutch in the torque converter is most likely worn out and its slipping too much when it goes to lock and iff you squeze the power on when they slip they shudder

Good to a Good Year tires service (or your personal favourite wheel dealer) and ask them to do a wheel balance. If you've put new tires on or adjusted springs etc, your car will probably need a wheel balance .
