hi guys it should b straight forward i guess but can anyone explain exactly whats involved with changing the rear springs and shockies on a vs v6 sedan i dont have spring compressors can i get away with big g clamps ? there only soft old stanard coils with 250 thousand km on em lol cheers muz
Unbolt the shocks at the bottom and the springs will fall out. Then open the boot and unbolt the shocks at the top if youre changing them. No need for spring compressors.
Make sure you have the car supported by the chassis and not the axle housing for obvious reasons.

Hey bud.. Is vs irs or not? im not sure. id get a set of spring clamps but, i seen a set in supercheap for bout $20 the other day.
If its irs. Its real easy. This is wat i did.
1. wen the cars jacked up.. jack the wheel arm up...
2. undo the handbreak and all that u can see that is preventing the arm from dropping.
3. while u have the arm jacked right up attach the spring clamp and tighten right up (has to b real fn tight)
4. drop the jack holding the the arm up.
5. pull spring out (sounds easy enough huh, i think ull find its a slut to get out!)
6. put new spring in
7. jack arm back up
8. Put all the bolts bak in that u took out to let the arm drop.
9. drop same jack holdin up the arm
10. put wheel back on. Alls done!
If its irs and u live near newi and u need a hand pm me.
good luck dude.
I just done the rears on my wagon. azzfox is spot on with his description don,t forget the torque settings for the arms. upper arms 60-75 nm lower arms 95-110 nm shocky lower mount nut 26-29 nm thats by the gregorys book
i had to tear the diff out of my live axle vs not long ago (dont ask) the max ellery manual i had said to torque up the diff arm bolts while the suspension has weight on it. i dunno if it makes any difference but all i did was jack up the diff until the car was about to lift off the stands and torqued em up. its an easy job you'll have it done in no time
