Busted ECU

Hi guys, my ecu is toast. Does anyone know if the ecu's are vehicle specific? As in can i take an ecu from another vehicle that's the same model and plug it in or do i have to my car to an ecu joint. VR statesman by the way

get another one from a stato... same engine and has to be VR.. plug in and go for it
