VR 3.8 Buick Recon

I'm considering getting my engine reconditioned but not sure what to look at

I've been told i can get extra power by adding larger pistons etc

what else can be changed to add extra power

and what price would i be looking at to do so?

Instead of getting a recon and trying to scrounge power out of the 3.8 did you consider going v8? Just a suggestion.

You could stroke your 3.8 to 4.2 while your at it? you looking at some $$ there though.

Most people just do cam, roller rockers and forced induction.

unless you wanna do up the v6 then i would just look at getting a second hand low k motor for cheaps. If you still wanna go down the rebuild path then im sure a stroker kit wont break the budget, find out how much extra to get the heads ported as opposed to just re-machining them back to factory spec and whack a bigger cam in with some new rockers. Its gonna cost you a bit, but while your doing a rebuild its goin to be the most efficient time to do it.
