Well I've just got on ordered some HPC Coated Pacemaker extractors aswell as a 100psi Hi-flow cat. I've got from the cat back done in 2.5" with a muffler and rear reso.
With my new set up im getting the extractors, hi flow cat, muffler then just getting a hotdog before the twin dump.
Car is a VS 96 acclaim
But what I'm after is maybe some sample sounds or oppinions of your similar own exhaust set ups. Do they drone on the high way? Any difference in performance.
And before anyone flames me, I know some people think hi-flow cats dont make a difference unless the engines modded super charged etc.. but I'm going to be re-building an engine from ground up so please don't post useless flames.
I'd say put a hot dog in the centre instead of the rear. Will be quieter, but will sound better. On the rear it will be barky and horrible.
Just a thought
On my Senator i have:
HSV headers, into a single cat / single 3", hot dog replacing centre muffler into a rear resi with twin polished flat edge tips. Sounds hell sweet.

Cobez are the senators V8's? I don't hear many people getting 3" exhausts on v6's either
Anyone else have similar set ups?
Hahaha yeah they are 8's.
For a V6 i'd go hot dog centre and a rear resi. Either way have ONE muffler on your exhaust.

^^ thats gotta be one of the worst setups ive heard of
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD

but have been thinking of replacing the centre muffler with a hotdog and putting a hotdog at the rear as well but have no idea what it will sound like
^^ Does your's drone alot atm man?
And what's better, to have the muffler at the back and hotdog in the middle or vice versa?
Love the sound of this guys VX... thinking about getting the same without the twin cats.

Yeah, my dad's a mechanic and has worked on some V6 Commodore's and he said they've sounded like shitboxes just because of the exhaust work, good to look at but when they drive past they sound shocking.
My old car had genie extractors into the standard cat then a 2.5" redback system with 2 straight through mufflers. It was quiet but had a nice note at higher revs without being annoying at 100k's.
At the moment I have standard headers and cat, then 2.5" pipe into a baffled centre muffler (I forget the brand) and a supercat rear muffler with 2x2.5" pipes out the back. I had the centre muffler changed from a redback one to try and get rid of some drone, but it can still be annoying under load at cruising speeds.

Hey thanks for the post man. Yeah I don't mind noise so much, drones don't perticularly bother me but for other peoples sake, I want to keep it down (use to have a 4cyl ford lazer with a cannon + extractors REALLY loud) so loudness isn't an issue. I'm really liking the sound of those videos I posted. The only thing I'm wondering if it he achieved that because he had the hotdog in the middle and the muffler at the back... what do you guys think?
I thought my old V6 sounded good for a V6, but then again each to their own i suppose, some people might like the sound of a loud V6, just as some people like the sound of a 4 banger with a massive exhaust and fart cannon on the back.
My VP had: Pacemaker extractors, into a single cat 2.5" pipe, centre straight through muffler, straight pipe to the back into a single polished tip.
Was quiet, but low and rumbly. The Pacies gave it the best note with the exhaust.

Yeah man, well being a clubsport I'm sure the sound of a V8 kicks a V6's ass. I already know how much better V8's sound, and trust me, if it weren't for this P2 bs, I'd be in one myself. None the less, I guess I'm going to have to trust the exhaust shop makes the right sound.
@ Cobez
Ah no worries mate, I took note of the 'had' part of your comment so I didn't get my hopes up![]()
