Exclamation standard shockies in the rear , how low can u safely go ?

hi guys ok 1 week ago i just brought sum new standard height rear shockies for my vs v6 sedan live axel.anyway i got the shits with the whole suspension the other day and went and brought sum new lowered front struts and springs they are supposed to be 30 mm lower at the front, i really like the way the front sits .anyway they didnt have springs for the rear the other day so im gunna buy sum rear springs tomorrow but heres my question . since my rear shocks r new i dont wanna get more new lowered shocks for the rear so can i safley lower the rear about 50 mm without the standard height rear shockies stuffing up ?its only about 2 inches so i figure the shockies will be ok but any advice is appreicated cheers muz

You need to put short stroke shocks on as they will bottom out when you go over humps ETC. And you will have to put in an adjustible hard pan rod to bring the diff housing back across to the drivers side as when you lower it the rear end will move across to the passenger side and scrub on the wheel arch and chew out your tyre side wall.

no you wont need an adjustable panhard. if your only going 50mm. anymore then i'd get one..... invest in a Strut Brace if the front suspension is Heavy Duty.

The shocks don't bottom out either, shortened shocks are only necessary to trap the springs. Standard shocks are perfectly safe to use up to around 50mm lower than standard. After that I would use shortened ones as the springs can fall out going over large humps and bumps.

If you have seriously wide tyres, an adjustable panhard rod may be needed to stop the tyres from rubbing on the guards.
