Hey guys,
Just finished a tank in my car... I push the counter at the petrol station so this is exactly right.
I got 268km's out of a VS V6, CAI, Extractors/2.5 exhaust. It ran on premium/V-power whatever it is can't member which one.
Does this sound about right or not... If it doesn't what could be the prob?? O2 sensors?
Thanks In advance.

hey
if ur driving it hard around town and that, thats probly about the amount of kms you'd get. if thats freeway these a problem somewhere u should be getting around 500 - 600 ish
this is going off the 70lt tank
thats about what im getting, and its definatly not good
im replacing my 02 sensors very soon
O2 sensors should be fine. They either work or they dont.
Mine has about the same setup minus the extractors plus 200kg extra weight.
Im getting around 850kms to a tank of Vpower on the highway.
I'd suggest you clean your MAF sensor, change the plugs, leads, oil, oil filter, injectors, plenom (general service)
Also depends on the thickness of oil you use. And the condition of your transmission if an auto. Aswell as tyre preasure ect...
Car is serviced like every 3000kms, As its free for me. MAF is clean, did it when i did the intake. Leads, Plugs have done about 2000kms. Oil is 2 fuel tanks old as is oil filter. Injectors? Don't know about them maybe i'll check them. I cleaned the Plenum of the carbon deposits when I did the CAI, as I cleaned the TB. Oil is 15w 30 Castrol Syntec <-I think.. Trans had a 3 grand rebuild with TCI Internal parts, all solonoids etc. were replaced as well as the all the internal electronics.... Also has a Foam tune?
Any other suggestions.

Yeah run some injector cleaner through it.
Your biggest problem here is your running Vpower and getting shit economy. If you ran normal unleaded you would have even worse economy.
Also try using mobile8000 if you can find it,
After I ran a few tanks of BP98 with HP booster (98% meth) the economy got alot better. Mainly because i think the methenol was cleaning the injectors right out.
I used to run 104 Octane boost stuff... Coz I get it for free... still have a few bottles left might stick some in.
Still I think there is something going on or I have a fuel gremlin who drinks it alll, either one...lol

at one point i was using alot of fuel and i couldnt work out why cos it was the same scenario as you, everything new/replaced fairly recent then one day was going over everything with the car running and found out the fuel hose connecting to the fuel rail was loose and was leaking fuel from there.
go over all you fuel lines and make sure they are tight and as said also do injectors and it really cant hurt to get a new o2 sensor, i would just so i knew it was new for piece of mind
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
I'm under the bonnet a fair bit, I think I would smell fuel leaking but I'll check anyways. Now you've said that i have to, like you said its peice of mind thing... Might just rplace the O2's and run some proper Injector clean see how she pulls up...

This isn't right. Just because the sensors aren't logging an error code, doesn't mean they are accurate. It is well established that all sorts of things (silicone, coolant, lead, soot) can foul the sensor, leading to inaccurate readings. There are loads of posts on this topic.
I was getting around 10L/100km with oxygen sensors that hadn't logged an error code (done ~160000). When I changed them I saw an immediate 10-15% improvement in fuel economy.
hey mate that doesnt sound too good, i just serviced mine and i got 440k's this week, thats flogging it around canberra so city driving.
I no sucks so bad... costs me like 60 bux a week....

Im currently getting like 8.5lts/100km, just a manual VR with a Delcowizzid and thats driving pretty hard round town aswell as highway travel running on V-power.
When i grow up... i want to be young again
Change your o2 sensor/s and your coolant temp sender (the one to the ecu)...
Usually i would say spark plugs, oil, leads etc etc but you said your car is serviced regularly so they couldn't be the issue.
Why would the Coolant Temp sender bother the fuel economy? does the ecu change fuel ratios depending on coolant temp?

If the temp sensor is sending the wrong info to the ECU, i.e it will run rich as it might think its constantly cold.

ahh yeh, now I get it.. I've had a Snap-On analyser on the car and it showed nothing, might put it back on and check again.

Yeh man I don't mind paying that but for 250ks its shit as...

yeah for sure. i hope it gets better mate, i was in your boat a little while ago but a cleaned out MAF sensor, and a full service saw me getting 440k's to a tank. and really good injector cleaner on a tank of premium too
i get anywhere between 250 and 350 out of a tank, but it only cost me $25 to fill up![]()
