    Default Fitting Extractors

    Hi all,

I just bought a second hand set of Pacemaker extractors for my VS V6.

I wanted to get the Y-peice off the guy I bought them from but it was welded to the cat which was welded to the rest of the exhaust (no flanges).

I was hopping some one could tell me how an exhaust place would fit them. Would the be able to shorten the existing Y-piece and re-weld the flanges back on or do you need a new one to suit the Pacemakers?

    How is it normally done?

    Thanks

For extractors they would mostly buy a new y peice for it as it works out cheaper to buy it made then to try and make one up, but it may dependon what shopyou go too. If were me i would have cut what i could of the y peice off with a hacksaw or grinder and taken it with you.

The VS extractors don't come with a Y pipe as the engine pipe-cat assembly is all one piece.

You will need to cut your existing Y pipe and weld flanges to it to bolt the extractors up.

Just a quick follow up question.
Should I replace the exhaust manifold gasket when the new headers go on?
Will this gasket be the same as the standard one or is there a different one for extractors?
    Cheers

You should always use new gaskets when fitting extractors. Aftermarket gaskets are all the same.

    Thanks for the info guys.

What do people think would be a fair price for an exhaust place to fit my extractors inc. gaskets and any other hardware that may be needed?

It's about a two hour job, so anywhere between $150 and $200.
