I am located behind the pulley for the belt.
And also behind the motor for the power steering.
I connect to the cooling system, and run into the heater tap.
I am the bottom of the two that connect to the heater tap from the motor.
I am leaking underneath where I join the motor. How can I fix myself? And how much am I worth.
Also - where is the manifold air sensor located? is it the same as the meter?
Thanks
You sound like a water pump. Usually you do not fix yourself, but Im assure if you file the appropriate formers it will get back to the manager of the car in which you work and a change request for a mechanic to fix you will be made. To be honest mate you sound about as valuable as a packet of chips if you are bleeding green blood. If you were not in need of some serious stitches then I would value you around the $150 mark I think.
This is the first water pump I have even seen able to post on JC, might be worth sticking yourself on Ebay mate.
For a VR, but should be very similar if not the same.
Changing water pump VN/VP/VR
you sound like the thermostat bypass pipe?
or did I miss something? you run behind a pulley and behind the powersteering and into the heater tap?
does it leak near the thermostat? or does it leak from behind a pulley over on the passenger side of the engine?
Get a pic of where she leaking from man, alot easier to point where it's leaking with a quick paint arrow, then we be able to tell you what u need to get.
There are bolts holding me on. The one closest to a rubber pipe which leads to the heater tap, holds an earth wire for an o2 sensor or something like that. The other is located close to the water pump behind its pulley.
Dannyboy - "you run behind a pulley and behind the powersteering and into the heater tap?" thats the one. Its just a bit below the pulley tho. It appears seperate to the water pump.
- It leaks where it curves and goes into the motor. From front on, just to the left of centre, and right of the pulley.
Will get a pick tommorow if that description is no better.
dont think its the water pump from your description, sounds like the idler arm assembly. it connects to the heater tap and its the part that the alternator bolts to.
you cost about 100, cant remember exact as this was a few years back, its fun to change but nothing a little time will fix.
yeah. the alternator is a fair bit higher.
If i wanted to find a price online, would i just search idler arm or something to do with the cooling system?
search for tensioner arm assembly, tensioner assembly or tensioner arm, its more pulley side than cooling but both lol if that makes sense.
as long as you comfirm its the part i have described, thats what it is![]()
some pictures just to be sure
sorry mate, i was talking about the part just above that. i cant recall that part off the top of my head.
looks like there are only a few bolts holding that on. you may have to remove the tensioner arm to get to it, i think!
thats cool mate, I just wanted to be sure.
Ive been searching far and wide for the name of this part. I don't own a manual, so I had a stickybeek at supercheap, and it had nothing about it in there.
I dont really like going to mechanics, because sometimes if you ask them, they sort of take over and think its there job, and I want to see if i can get it cheap, do it myself, and learn a little about things.
So the name of it comes to mind, please let me know - its rather frusterating
In one pic there you have a decent shot of the part number. It it is that metal pipe that its leaking from maybe replace that pipe. It shouldn't cost too much from Holden.
If its leaking from where the metal pipe connects to the rubber hose it may be a split or perrished hose. Sometimes tightening the clamp may solve the issue.
Otherwise it may be a gasket that is leaking. Either get a new gasket or use a gasket silicone.

a shot in the first pic has the leak sort of showing - that dark spot underneath its join.
My old man - who is the chief of the car, seems to think i should have a replacement part incase its corroded.
Im hoping just an o-ring.
You could go to the Holden parts desk and quote the part number...
id rip it off before buying a replacement one, save spending unnecessary money.
find someone who can get one first, then order/buy if you need it.
sorry for stealling your thread but does anyone know what theese hoses next to the engine do?
I've decided I'm going to take a gamble tommorow or the next day and pull off the weird part and suss it out.
I've got pretty bad luck with these things, so it will probably need a replacement - but hell least it will be off and i can walk it around with me lol
