    Default f**king ABS

I have a problem with my ABS in our VS statesman recently I have replaced the driver side hub with a brand new one, now everytime I first drive the car the brake pedal goes down to a certain point and goes rock hard and then releases other than this braking is not effected this happens until the ABS out light comes on and then all the brakes are normal again.

Eveynow and then the brake pedal will kick back but this is rare, I know I may have to replace the new hub with another one again incase it is the sensor in the hub and bleed the brakes.

The problem goes away very quickly usually on the second application of the brake when the ABS light comes on

Are there any other suggestions or has anyone else encountered this problem before ?

sounds like an incorrect/broken hub. Either the sensor itself is not picking up or the hub has the incorrect amount of teeth or somthing.

Its a a 48 tooth hub from holden but its been sitting for a while so it might be the sensor.I bent out the two prongs slightly that the plug goes over just in case they werent contacting but I havent tested it yet, unless it is the wrong hub for my model

If your Statesman has IRS then the hub cover colour should be light grey, otherwise if you have the five link rear suspension it should be black.

I notice when I put the hub on the cover was a different colour to the original ,I do have Irs ,but when I checked the part number on the box through holden they said it was the rigth one , so maybe the hub is in the wrong box? so you might be onto something here

your symptoms sound like the ABS is running through its self check sequence and keeps picking up a fault ... like an incorrect hub or something. I think there is a how to one here that tells you how to cheack ABS error codes ? might help you identify the issue if you haven't already.
