    Default VS GTS clutch replacement

got a mate with a VS GTS 215, manual.

his clutch just kicked the bucket...

are the 6 speed clutch issues the same as the 5 speed hydraulics? i.e. are they dual mass? can you convert to solid flywheel?

    some advice would be appreciated

    thanks

Yep, they don't have a DM flywheel, but they're a chevy clutch, so the pricing is still fairly ordinary...

In Exedy, std are $1019, HD are $1159 and cushion button are $1619.

i see. so is it a matter of just removing the flywheel and machining, then slapping in a new clutch kit? I take it that what you suggested is the only option, so every clutch change will be over $1k?

    Thanks for the advice

Yep, pretty much. Just take the old flywheel out and machine.

Most clutch kits (excluding those for dual mass or flywheel replacements kits) are in the $200-$500 mark. Being such an odd model it's more expensive, and although it's still a 'GMK-' part number, our price list says it's a Chevy clutch, which explains the price... it's not common to any other Commodore...
