Tail Lights - Boot ??

First of all only really just got home, really bloody tired but this has been peeing me off all night so i thought I'd come on and ask this question quickly. zzzzz

Hey guys, I've been wondering, I'm not too sure if i want too pay $80+ On 2 lights "which are connected on my boot" Which I'm not too sure if they are even suppose too, but they don't even work or do anything, I pointed them out in the picture, I was wondering how legal would it be too paint them the same colour as my vehicle? Would it look alright ? I've never seen it done, if anyone else has is there any pictures?

But yeah, My model is a 94 Holden VR Acclaim, And they don't seem to work, But they're faded, And I've just brought new tail lights so it's kinda off putting seeing them faded in the sun.

Any info on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they are supposed to work. They are also break lights, I'm not so sure about the legality of painting them, but it would be better not to run the risk (plus having those bits painted would look weird).

Have you tried replacing the globes?
If that doesn't work, just pick them up from a wrecker, you don't need to pay $80.

remember the white parts are the reverse lights, so you cant paint them. but u can paint the light part, u'll most likely get picked up on it but they are removeable/replacea ble. the red bit lights up with the headlights only, not brakelights

there have been a few cars that have had the bootlights removed totally.

Hmm ok thanks, I'll replace the globes on monday and check them out, I'm also thinking of going too City Dismantlers in town and seeing if they have any which are not faded.
