Default Engine Cover Off Damages Bonnet?

Was just wondering if taking the engine cover off of my car would damage the underside or maybe even the paint?
pretty simple stupid question but was just curious..

Your bonnet will get hotter in the sun than from the engine so the engine cover will make no difference, other than improving air flow over your intake manifold.

It is designed to serve a dual purpose - firstly to quieten the engine and secondly for appearance. Removal will neither cause harm or add a benefit. Personally I left mine off at times so I could more easily keep an eye on oil leaks etc.

in saying that hako. Back when i had the v6 calais i did notice the car would not heat up quicker than usual. Would usually sit a bar less than usual? Lol when i saw the thread title i was like hmm that thread looks familiar. Glad to see old threads can still be useful to other members
