how to remove auto selector to change bulbs

hi guys ive got the top of my gear selector off as shown in the pic but how do i remove the slide bit i have to get into the bulbs for my gear selector there blown cheers muz

Yeah, you didn't need to do that. Pull the ash tray out (The thing you have full of coins in that pic). Then pull the hand brake up, put the auto shifter back to three, reach into the hole from the ash tray and pull the surround up. Doesn't take much force. Disconnect the cigarette lighter and it's globe, lift the black plastic "P,R,N,D,1,2,3" thing up... Your globe is under there.

What on EARTH have you done

All you need to do to get to the bulb, is remove the black garnish (it pulls out), and unplug the cigarette lighter wires (should be two plugs). Then move it around the whole gear selector. It fits. Then the black slider bit can be forced off, and the light should be easily accesible like that. If not, the white housing around the shift light can be removed with four phillips head screws.

I have no idea what you've just done, but it sure looks like hard work

O_O I didnt even know that knob came off. That would have been an effort.

That's what i was thinking too. Hope he can put it back on...

Im pritty sure those Knobs are like glued on lol

It is held in place with barbs. I replaced mine with a leather covered one a while back now.

Still.... to the point. Removing it wont help change the globe lol
