Exclamation Need help please vs v6

I have just recently pulled the engine and gearbox out of my vs wagon and put another motor in with the same auto transmission. Both the cars are late model vs v6 but i did notice the motor i put in my wagon had vs 11 written on the side of the motor. I have got the car started and it seems to idle fine but when i accelerate its like the engine wants to die/running rough and when you drive it tends to backfire a bit as well. I am not sure if i am suppose to change the computer????

If anyone may have an idea please help

    Cheers Mick

Sounds like something isn't connected properly. You shouldn't need to change the ECU. Is the MAF plugged in properly? Are the clamps done up tight?

Could be a coincidence, how's your fuel pump?

i have been thinking it may be that i am unsure of the condition of the fuel pump the car itself has done approx 450,000ks
If it is the fuel pump would it cause it to backfire?

there also is a hose connected to the transmission on the top near where it joins to the motor that goes near the steering rack that goes into the body and it just sits in the hole is this correct???
i think its called a breather pipe

Yep, that's just a breather. And yes, a dodgy fuel pump can cause it to back fire.

The only real way to be sure is with a fuel pressure gauge. Just because it makes the noise doesn't mean it is pumping at full pressure.

blown brake globe or a single filament bulb where a double filament bulb should be in the brake lights
