Last night I went for a drive up the reefton spur and back in my VR commodore.. I pulled into maccas and went and got some food, reversed out, went to drive away and as I locked my steering I heard a pop and my steering just stopped working... My power steering boots are filled with fluid and my power steering tank is empty. I parked my car at my mates place and not going to drive it..
Also, my power steering end bars are abit bent.. Just wondering if I should completely replace it or just get seals and get my mate (mechanic) to help me?
Luckily i had completed the trip and was on the way home anyway.. suck if it had broken in the spur!!
justbuy a new steering rack.... easier.... and re-assurance that it wont happen for a while
As he said ^, buy a reconditioned or new steering rack and change it over. Don't even try rebuilding your old one its not worth it at all and it will probably fail or leak.
If you can get trade price they start at about $150 for a reco.
cheers fellas..
