Thermostat

Can someone please tell me if the thermostat in a 3.8 ecotec opens one way or two?, also, if anyone has found simply throwing it away has helped at all?.

only opens one way. and if its installed round the wrong way it wont open at all

and if dont have one in the engine, you engine will never be able to reach operating temp, which is really bad, cause ecu will read a cold engine and use more petrol

Throwing it away? Hell no! Your engine would take forever to get to operating temp resulting in poor fuel economy. In cold weather it might not reach operating temp at all.

i took mine out and got better fuel econamy lol but i live in a hot climent in mount isa 38 in summer on a cool day.

yeah not saying linz in wrong, but there is a reason that there is a thermostat in a car, and i would keep it
