    Default Really stupid question

I have been offered the rear half (cat back) exhaust system off a VP 5 litre for $25. What size is the factory exhaust on a VP 5l? And will it fit up to a VR 3800 without too much cutting and welding? Both cars are live axle sedans.

I don't think it's a stupid question. This page should be a bit of help though.

Will a VP IRS Exhaust fit a VR IRS Acclaim?

I have found this helps though. This is what I banged into google to get that page -

"vp exhaust fit vs site:forums.justcommodores.com.au" (without the quotes).

That "site:" bit will limit whatever you search for to that site. I think it's better than the Search button.

    Awesome, thanks.

I was expecting half a dozen replies telling me to stop being cheap and get the proper exhaust, or to take the 5 litre out of the VN as well as the exhaust to go in the VR.

Yes it will bolt straight up. If it is the stock 5L exhaust, don't bother as V6 and V8 systems are the same. If it is a sports exhaust, go for it.
