    Default A Statesman owners frustration

    You guessed it.
    Interior electrics.....

    So far i have listed:

    Fog lights don't switch on
Climate control only occasionally switches on
    Head unit always blows fuses
Drivers door lock wont go down with button
passenger seat up/down movement doesnt work
Rear window wont move at all
Front window comes up extremely slow

    grrr..

Anyways - Have others experienced these problems? Whats the best way to tackle it?

Either go 1 by 1 and try to sort them out myself cheaply

Or i write a list and take the car to an auto sparky, fork out the cash and hopefully get it done.

only thing ive had with my barge, is
Driver power window regulator shat itself, easy fixed.

Passenger door lock button thingy, wont go down when i push the key remote to lock car, so i just push it down by hadn. Nor will it open with key remote.

    Thats all with my barge.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.

    Fog lights don't switch on
check your fuses, and bulbs otherwise could be switch, check for power with test light.
Climate control only occasionally switches on
This usually means your relays are shot.
    Head unit always blows fuses
Bad earth? or speakers earthing on body?
Drivers door lock wont go down with button
replace central locking module and WD40 the key barrel, same part as commodores so cheap fix, you will need a hex screw driver bit to remove lock, and experience with door trim removal
passenger seat up/down movement doesnt work
if they are electric check again for power with test lamp
Rear window wont move at all
check for voltage, otherwise replace motor, easy to do, just need to get yourself a drill to remove rivetts, and some new rivvetts to replace motor
Front window comes up extremely slow
this would be the rubber nearest the hinge, just wind window down , look into cavity of window and then you should see if the glass is on the rubber or on the outside of it, replace re-fit as necessary. Common Fault with all commodores, a bit of strong weather strip glue when fitting will help here.

that should get you started, in Adelaide that would cost you around $100-$150 to do it yourself. Or I can fix them for you at a good price, PM if your interested..

Thanks for that spirto. That was good. $150 is a sweet price DIY.

The cars for sale - had a guy look at it yesterday, and after seeing those problems he tried to know a couple of grand off my asking price lol.

    I was like 'ahhh no'

Im not in Adelaide - In Whyalla, 3 hrs away.

Ill probably be able to knock a few of those problems off myself. Like the window and door lock etc.

But the head unit, fog lamps, elec passenger seat and climate control i might handball.
