Vs Gearbox Replacement

Hey, new to the site and pretty desperate ATM. My 1997 manual vs Commodore Ute is in the shop at the moment needing a new gearbox or a rebuild on my current one. My mechanic is having trouble finding a new one from a 'trusted' dealer and so am I. Any ideas, or knowledge on where to find one?

Wreckers are about the only/cheapest place, but you don't know the condition of it. The most reliable option is to get yours rebuilt. That is the option i would take if i was in your shoes.

Cheers, that was an option given to me by the mechanic. Any idea on a rough cost for a job like that?

No idea, probably fairly pricey but i would imagine less than an auto rebuild.
