Hey everyone this might seem silly but i went for a couple of trips into the bush in my vs calais (being the idiot i am forgot it rained a couple of weeks earlier mud all over it) The engine bay got mud all through it, i was just wondering the best way to clean it? im a bit worried but f***ing with the electrics.
Should be fine to wet the electrics but if your worried about it then tape all the connections to seal them up.
If you have a compressor and nozzle on hand then you can dry connections with it.
Most important part is not to use high preasure water because it can stuff seals, gaskets ect...
Righto cheers for that mate, i did my old vl once and it took me weeks to get it running right again, i was gonna give it a good spray with degreaser and give it a mad hose, i got a little compressor so ill give it a good blow over with that, thanks again.
No worries mate.
Also with any engine bay remember to cover the air box with a plastic bag![]()
okie doke to easy mate thanks
Cover your coil pack.

And you might want to be a bit careful with the relay box too... It's pretty well covered, but water has interesting an irritating habits...
Never had an issue cleaning a VR/VS engine with hot high pressure water, just dont be stupid and directly spray the coilpacks etc. Use compressed air afterwards.
thanks everyone i was thinking i degrease, wash, blow dry (with compressor), then go for a quick drive up the freeway and back.
yeap sounds like a plan. as most have said, dont go crazy, but common sense prevails.
get 2 plastic bags and a bit of tape, one for the coil packs and one for the fuse/relay box.
Alll done with no problems but it didnt come up as nice as i'd hoped, ill have to give it another go next time i wash the car.
x2 on the bags over the coilpacks.
i forgot once, had some epic misfiring going on![]()
