    Default Coolant Woes

Hey everyone, i am fairly new to this forum having recently acquired a VS Calais, i moved here from PGA, (used to own a SSS Pulsar).

Anyway, my car spat out all it's coolant driving to work one morning (40km highway trip), so i filled it up and was able to make it the last 4km without the car getting to warm. When i finish work i found the believed culprit, on the left side (from front) of the engine one of the heater core hoses (the smaller one) coming from the engine. So i got to work and cut a inch off and moved it up and relighted it, yet it still leaks though not as bad, and i could not find a mark on the part i cut off at all.

My question is i still can't find where the water is coming from, yet it just seems to be running down this hose, is it posible that it could be cracked metal somewhere? Or do i just need to replace the whole hose?

Also my air sensor?? (the thing just up from the airbox connected to the hose) is making a really loud whistling sound, my dad's VY makes no such sound, is this normal or does it need replacing??

Im not 100% sure which coolant hose your talking about, but i'd be looking at two things. Firstly the hose itself, if its gone hard and brittle from age it'll need replacing because it simply wont create a seal anymore.
Then secondly at the radiator itself where the coolant hose connects, check for hairline cracks where it attaches. This part of the radiator is only plastic and it's common for it to crack and open up when under pressure releasing coolant.
With a maf sensor (im pretty sure thats what you meant by air sensor) it doesn't make any noises, so your noise is coming from elsewhere. Most probably it's just the induction sound of your engine under vacuum sucking in air. Do you have a standard air filter fitted? If it's one of the performance filters they can be a bit louder than the stock ones.
Other than that you might have a leak somewhere along your induction setup, could just be a loose hose clamp somewhere.
