Question VS Sedan Rear Air Adj. Monroe Shocks

    Hi

My VS is fitted with Monroe Gas shocks - adjustable height - apparently for towing. It has a label that states:
    Australia rides on Monroe Gas
    Tenneco Automotive
Both the shock and the label is blue

I did a search on the forum as well as google, and all I can find is this:

Holden VP VR VS VT VX IRS Sedan Rear Air Adj. Shocks - eBay Shocks, Struts, Suspension, Steering, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 28-Aug-09 19:22:33 AEST)

So my question is this: how do you adjust them? Do you need a special pump? or what. Any info is much appreciated

(Couldn't get the info on monroe's website either)

The car currently has them pumped up, so the ass is high in the air in case any one is wondering...

If they are like the old ones i used to have then there should be a tyre valve in the boot or near the tow bar where you pump them up or let the air out with a normal tyre pump.

from memory, the statemans have them, there should a compressor that pumps them up to self level when adding a load, boot full or trailer. maybe it was the caprices that had em standard..

Cool thanks for the replies guys

I had found the valve in the boot, but was wondering what to use to adjust them.

Where can I get info on the pressures to alter them to?

ephect is their a aftermarket pump or can someone post direct me to a pic of one?

    thank you

    u have 2 options,

    1. use an aircompressor one thats normally in the shed/garage and use a tyre gauge to inflate

    2. purchase a car compressor, it plugs into the ciggy lighter socket. will be slow but u can adjust it mid trip if u happen to load up the boot.

If you are going to use a compressor then get a air tank and a adjustable pressure switch (turns the pump on/off when it hits a curtain pressure and it will take care of it's self

    I like that idea^^^

I have been thinking about using a statesman/caprise pump and wiring that in as per above post... Or just finding any pump really to do that.

    Thanks guys.

A lot of 4wd places do cheap small tank and compressor set ups like ARB and TJM and the like!
