Will be working on the braking system on my 94 Vr sed, no ABS, solid rear end- this weekend. Am replacing front rotors/pads, rear pads(rotors r ok) and draining and refilling the brake fluid.
The prob its got is a leak that seems to be coming from between the booster and the master cylinder-brake pedal is very soft-going to the floor, also noticed a small puddle on top of the master cylinder-I expect a reservoir leak too.......What parts could I expect to replace to repair these probs-hoping theres a seal kit available.
Cheers
Jason
if fluid is leaking out the rear seal of the master cylinder bore the quick answer is your master cylinder is rooted. Buy a new one.
You might be able to buy a complete seal kit but if you are going to do that you have to strip the whole master, check it for rust and wear, then rebuild the whole thing. Oh yeah , and if you stuff it up your brakes will fail. !! Good luck.
^^^^what he said. The master sounds like its bypassing. Bleeding your brakes can make it worse too as you stroke the master further than it normally goes and if the bore is old and has a lip in it the it can tear the seal a little more as it rides over the lip. But you can put a seal kit through them and see how it goes but you should have it honed out too. As above if your good with that then go for it, otherwise take it to a brake shop for a rebuild.
buy a new one, master cylinder is screwed
