had an issue the other night where my car wouldnt start. i was driving it 20 minutes before and it was fine. stopped the car, came back later and it would just crank and crank, with the occasional tiny fire and then nothing. tried it today and it started up first go. what could cause this?
it did something similar last week, where it stalled while driving, then wouldnt start up again. but i got that fixed by fiddling around with the earth wire on the alternator

could be the coil on it way out happened to mates vs 5 ltr on the high way we thougt it was the silver box on the side of the strut tower but ended up being coil
hope this helps
If ya got a spare coil around i'de be throwing that in just in case. Why not start it and let it idle outside for a while then try and repeat the fault. If you can then good you can start fault finding on it and id be going for spark first. Could be fuel pressure related too but less likely and less again would be the injectors not firing.
if its cranking good, it would only really be coilpacks or fuel pump, I would go coilpack first
hmmm the coil and the distributor are both around 9 months old, so im hoping theyre not causing any issues

CAS try putting some water on it to cool it down next time it does it, saves wasting money only to find out its something else

Mine did something similar, tho it also stalled on random occasions. Was the hall effect sensor in the dizzy. I'd check as above, but keep this in mind
I agree with the above and that's what I told Stocky, most likely the hall effect, but also could the the coil or module. When things break you should allways suspect the newest stuff first, they area allways more likely to break than something that's lasted 20 years and proven itself
found the nut on the starter motor had come loose. tightened that up and havent had a problem yet
