Default vs s2 v6 central locking

The remote central locking works on all doors except drivers door, however if you stick the key in the door and turn it works all doors. I have just purchased a new key and the problem still exists. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.Cheers.

I'd say it works on all 4 doors when you use the key in the door because you are then physically unlocking the drivers door and electrically unlocking the other 3 doors. The key is mechanically connected to the lock plus a microswitch that then unlocks the other 3 doors.Sounds like to solenoid is gone on the drivers door.

One simple thing to check is whether there is any dirt in between the lock knob and its surround. I had a problem where one of my rear doors wouldnt unlock and all it needed was a clean out.

What is the best way to go about replacing the solenoid as it looks difficult to access?

The solenoid/actuator is part of the lock mechanism so it's easiest to get a direct replacement from a wrecker - make sure they guarantee it to work. It is possible to fit an aftermarket actuator but it involves a bit of stuffing around and I'd go for a direct replacement.
Removal should not be too complicated once the trim is off - take digital pix as you go so you can remember re-assembly.
If you like, pm me your email address and I'll scan the page from the workshop manual.

I would try giving it a spray with wd40 on the mechanicm, to clean dirt old grease etc out and see if it works then follow up with some chain lube to keep it lubed up
