Hi all, I think I am big trouble... I was tightning up a new temp sender and the bloody nut part snapped right off, now the cylinder part is stuck inside the thread with no access to be able to get it out, any suggestions would be really appreciated, thanks.
I think your only options are to drill it out or use an ez-out to extract it.

Thanks for your reply, I did think of drilling it out but was worrying about the metal filings getting into the water, I don't know if it would or not.
What is an eze-out ? can you buy the tool ?
thanks
An ez-out is just a tap with a left handed thread. You drill a small hole in the middle of the sender, and screw it in. You can buy them from somewhere like Supercheap (they look like this: EASYOUTS, EASY-OUTS, EZ OUT, EZY-OUT, Bolt Extractor, Screw Extractor).
If you decide to drill it out, if you are careful, you should be able to clean up 99% of the filings. I assume you have drained some water out of the radiator, and there is a ledge below the sender inside the thermostat housing, so the filings can't drop down into the cooling system and out of reach
Thanks mate, I managed to drill it out and get all the metal fillings out.
Now I am ready to install the new revised temp sender, just how far do you have tighten up the temp sensor as i don't won't to snap this one and do you use anything around the thread like plumbers tape or just screw it back in ?
thanks for your help guys.
When I did mine I just tightened till it was firm. If my memory serves, you may notice that the thread is tapered, so you do want to go all the way. The other thing that I did was put some loctite sealant on the thread. I guess you could also use thread tape, but the thread sealant always comes in handy.
Thanks very much mate![]()
