    Default Life Expectancy VSII

how many kms would a VSII commodore be good for, provided it's been looked after etc,

I own a 97 VSII executive V6, it has 251,000kms on it, got it at 211,000km, service every 8000kms or so, major service every 30-40,000kms

it's really, really smooth, and the engine runs beautifully, it;s powerful, economical (c550-650kms in W.syd) and responsive.

how many more kms should i expect?

How long is a piece of string?

There is no answer to this question. Many VS's are running very healthily with 300+ (mine has 285).

It all comes down to how well you take care of your car. There is no pre-determined limit that says you should rebuild your engine or trade the VS in at any given time, or that it will break down as soon as it clicks over 300.

If you know what kind of life it's had, and take care of it properly, then how many K's it's done becomes less of an issue. It's still an issue, don't think it's not, but every car is different.

The gearbox on mine went a few months ago at about 250k, but I have a feeling the previous owner didn't take the best care of it. An old mate of mine had one with close to 500k with no major problems in the 100k odd since he had owned it.

There are heaps getting around with well over 300,000k's on them so you can expect it to last a while yet.

Also depends how its been driven, as more damage will be done driving the car on lots of short trips whilst the cars is cold compared to longer distances whilst the car is hot.
