hey was driving my car 2 nite did an oil flush and changed the oil today car was goin heaps smoother runing good then went for a drive 2 nite as i was bored got up to about 80 kmh then the car just turned off had enough roll to get into a servo the engine light an oil light was on so i checked the oil and transmission levels they were ok started the car stayed on for all of 2 seconds then stalled again left it 10 minutes started it and it was shaking/ shudering in park then i put it in reverse an it was worse put it in drive and it got even worse drove home as i accelerated it got worse as soon as i took my foot of the accelerater it wasnt as bad but once i started 2 slow down it got worse again the motor seems 2 be a lot louder than normal and the exhaust doesnt sound rite

if anyone can help me find out wat the problem is it would be much apreciated have taken the car to the mechanics before about the car just stalling but they dnt no wat it is

whilst the oil change info is good it could be random and unrelated to the oil change, check for codes, look in the how to section for info on how to do it.

Crank Angle Sensor probably (under $60 to replace). Did you take the lid off the plenum (under the "ecotec" plastic cover)? Be careful reusing the o-ring/rubber seal, as it might leak now, but with your main issue I'd say its your Crank Angle Sensor (aka "CAS")

not a lot of people realise that after 20 ignitions any stored error codes are deleted...

You need to get a helper to jam the ring gear between the transmission and motor while you use a large ratchet to take the bolt off the balancer. Take the belt off first of course by pulling the slack off it on the tensioner. Then to get the balancer off you need a 3 jaw puller. A good quality one is needed as the balancers can be a complete barge to remove. The CAS is on the lower LH side of the motor. Take it out and unplug it. Do everything in reverse but if you can do the balancer bolt up with a rattle gun. Put a little bit of gear oil on the bolt thread too.

do a compression test, sounds like youve lost a cylinder, could be camshaft or a valve spring if not one of your sensors.

UM....while you was doing the oil change if there happened to be a rag anywhere near the intake, as soon as you start up...guess what happens next....blocked intake....the engine then sucks air from anywhere it can even the crankcase could be why theres oil in the plenum....worth a look check all your intake piping for a blockage....

To undo it's anti clock wise. Just like an ordinary bolt. It will be very tight and needs to be done up tight also, to about 100nm.

as crazy said it is a normal thread so undo it anti clockwise. Best method i know is to use a long breaker bar or pipe over your breaker bar long enough to go under your drivers side chasis rail. then stand back and turn your key to on to try start the engine. the bar will wack the chasis and motor will turn and undo bolt. might take a few goes. it worked for me but be carefull doing this.
then u need a puller for the balancer.

Lash out on a gregorys or a haynes manual if your gunna DIY. They wont tell u everything but they'll give you the basics. you can make a brace for the harmonic balancer but your gunna need a puller. a cheepy fron supa chep will do it.

yer i found a way to do it got the breaker bar an put it on the ground of the passengers side on the ground kicked the motor twice and it was undone then took the other car down to supercheap bought a puller 45 dollars and it dont even fit the next size up they had was 75 i think it would just work out cheaper if i take it to the mechanic lol

Check your coil pack(s). With the car running, disconnect the injectors (one at a time) - make sure you reconnect them before disconnecting the next one. If one of the coils has gone, it should affect 2 cylinders. If the revs don't alter, there's your dead coil.

Do not disconnect the spark plug leads or use a screwdriver to short out the spark - It's possible this could damage your coils/module (according to a local mechanic).
