The Getrags use hydraulic clutch. The T5s have cable clutch.

Not sure on any other differences. VSs have the Getrag, but i'm not sure if its ALL VS models. Mate of mine had a late build with one, so it might just be series 2s.

The former snaps in half if you look at it too sternly (or so I hear), and the latter doesn't?

Getrags were used from VT-VY in the V6's.

Oh if it was a conversion, you'd almost be certain its only a T5. I can't remember ever seeing a Getrag for sale.

The advantage of a T5 over a Getrag. The T5 is a cheap, easy to rebuild gearbox (can be stripped and rebuilt in 4 hours). Getrag is an expensive rebuild and a bastard of a box to work on.... if anyone here was worked on them, I'm sure they would agree.
