    Default VR Exhaust

    hey guys,
i have a VR V6, and i'm just wondering wat exhaust system would sound the best in terms of value for money, willing to spend around $250.

    basically just looking for a 2.5" cat-back.
but am wondering what muffler set-up would be best

-main muffler with resonator is too quiet

-main muffler withOUT resonator sounds pretty good

-wat about hotdogs though, i have heard of people only having a hotdog in the centre no other mufflers

    OR

    - having the main muffler then replacing the resonator with a hotdog

just confused here. any help would be greatly appreciated..

    thanks.

(***sorry if a thread like this has already been done i tried searching***)

lol i was just looking, our cars are very similar.. AND NO i didnt copy u haha

same colour, 17's, SL's etc etc.
yours looks way cleaner but VERY NICE!, paint and interior wise, im stuck on a poor school kids wage haha

back to the exhaust but, so i take it that's just the centre muffler?? and not worry about the resonator or hotdogs or anything??

how much would that be roughly??

Thats how i have it mate. Just centre muffler out to tip, no hotdog or resi. I payed $80 for the muffler installed, and piping shouldnt be much more then that ($100 maybe). ive choped and changed that much i couldnt give you a solid answer on price.

Cheers for the comments on the car mate, its in getting more paint at the moment. Cars are a disease lol

Yes that is brand new. You may be able to get it cheaper over there somewhere, I don't know. I send a lot of stuff over east from here so I'm guessing it is pretty cheap.

Front SS bar sprayed and fitted, boot stripped and repainted, rear garnish, door handles and side mirrors, rear quarters blended.

Also, go a 8x4" muffler if you can get it, not a 10x6" which is standard. Sounds a lot deeper

Actually, no it doesn't. The larger the can, the deeper they are, but they also get a bit quieter. Which is a good thing if you don't go a rear resonator
And the one I do is a 10x4 can.

I noticed the difference from going 10x6 to 8x4 on the same day, same brand muffler. The 8x4 was a lot deeper and louder

Don't mean to hijack your thread. But i have been looking for a front Muffler for my VR wagon and am being quoted $170+ from the stores on the central coast.. Thats just for a standard Muffler.

I'm currently running Pacemaker extractors to standard cat to a Lukey 2.5" exhaust that is cut after the first muffler (at the diff). Everyone who hears it only has positive things to say about it, nice and deep and good growl, but that is from outside the car. Inside, everything vibrates and it is far too loud for normal driving conditions. So I'll be putting my Redback on soon hopefully and then I'll try and figure out how to keep the Lukey volume down abit.

I guess my point is, Pacies really did change the note of my exhaust for the better lol.

apparently if you knock out your restrictors and have a straight through pipe it will sound like a stock v8 (costs around 150$ to do this) although its a $5,000 fine if you get busted.

best bet, grab a second hand exhaust with extractors to suit your car from ebay for around 450 if you can save, if not, just get a cat back exhaust with a decent little tip.
