I was wondering if the foam between the cardboard and the fabric on my hood linings nessecary or could i glue the fabric of the hood lining straight onto the cardboard without it falling off

you can glue the fabric straight to the cardboard, there have been a few members that have done it this way.

I thought about doing it that way as well but once you remove the foam you are left with a very thin fabric which will mimic the cardboard backing sheet warts and all. The foam acts as a smoother and covers/hides imperfections in the cardboard. I ended up using a very thin felt (no foam) from Spotlight - about $40 wirth from memory.
ive seen a guy that stapled his sinking lining up in a square pattern. gives a real nice pin-cushion look to it. very easy too![]()
