My 1994 VR Commodore Exc won't turnover and start unless it is jump started from the battery. Recently i had my car service then rediator replaced and a new battery put in. Since then the car will not turn over (radio lights etc still work). After jump starting it the car runs fine until it is left to sit for a couple of hours (will start immediately after driving). Would a faulty key or contact in the ignition barrel mess me up? It has been to two auto electricians who have checked the electrics although the problem persists. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Cheers
Is the alternator charging the battery?
Your starter motor could be stuffed if you have charge in battery.
Any electrics?
Have you checked the battery in the morning? Is it 12v+ or dead?
Could be dead battery as it has been fully discharged too many times or just defective from factory.
Thanks for the advice. Alternator ok although replaced regulator. Tried a couple of different batteries. Trying a new starter motor soon. Will post results. Thanks again.
i'd look at the diode in the alternator, not the regulator
