what gearboxs fit?

what gearboxs fit into a vr calais 5ltr. it currently has a f***ed auto in it. prefer to keep it auto what other models will fit in and will i have to change bell housing.

VR-VS autos will go in fine, not 100% sure but i believe also VN-VP models and VT series 1 also.

it has to be from an 8.

u can get adaptor plates for 6 boxes but its more problems that its worth.

VN-VP won't work because they are not electronic. VT's are a little more difficult, as you have to slightly bend the exhaust out of the way, and swap the selector shaft etc.

Would just be easier to get one from the same model to make sure.

your better off getting a vr box. vs and others have different electronic wiring, save a few headaches

if you can only get a vs box then swap the harness out of it for the vr one.

no matter im just going to get the box rebuild this one is already shift kitted and everything from what ive seen it isnt that much dearer and has warentty unlike gettin a second hand box

i just put a 2nd hand box in mine for $700 with a 60 day warranty to get it rebuilt was gonna cost $1800

unless u plan to keep the car for years not really worth it..

i plan to keep it for a few years its gettin strengthened n sh*t cause in the future its gona get blower setup put on it may aswell do the box now cause its stuffed
