powers teering pumps are notorious for leaking on almost any commodore, they also have tranny fluid or p/s fluid is the sam pretty much anyway. Check that. If not, tranny fluid should be in the centre of the car aor it could be the tranmission cooler lines.

it can also be the "speedo fitting" on the side of the transmission, usually the "o" ring perishes, or the housing cracks, not expensive to change.

power steering lines can be tightened, sometimes they leak from the seal under the power steering reservior. Small "o" ring.

also the steering racks tend to leak from inside the dust boots, you can have the steering rack re-built in most states about $300, or find a good second hand one .

    best of luck

My vy was leaking around the sump gasket on the tranny. Check all around the edges of that as well as what the other guys have said.
If it's that, then you need to buy a transmission service kit, but search first or ask questions if you've never done one before. Good luck.

40 odd bux plus transmission fluid, decent mechanic shouldn't sting you too much but you need to make sure that the leak is actually from the transmission sump. Like said above it could be power steering, etc.

if it is the lines, you dont change them its usually a loose fitting or clamp as they are under pressure, get underneath wipe whatever you can see clean and pinpoint where its coming from.

Yeah I had to do up a clamp on the steering fluid line on the vy.

Mine had a leak a month ago, turned out to be the trans front seal / O ring seal.

Had that, the pump seal and clutches all done at once, hasn't leaked a drop since.

Wasn't cheap. Cost me $500 including labour (cheaper rates through my mechanic as it's his friend who works at the trans place i take my car to) as i had the clutches etc done too.

That does sound fairly cheap, if the clutches were done as well, that mean all the internals were taken out, almost a rebuild.

Yeah i get suprisingly good prices through my mechanic on certain things. But some places he uses for certain jobs, the prices are expensive, and there is no mates rates.

I was happy with that price. Feels a bit better to drive. I'd love to throw $1800 at my trans and get all the stuff done that i could, but can't afford to do that with buying a house. Not realistic.
