Hey guys just had the transmission and exhaust replaced in my VR with second hand factory items but there are a few more problems I need to deal with and am looking for advice. There are a lot of random noises - the front suspension has a lot of creaking and crunching from it, and there is a gurgling noise like water flowing behind the dash. Also in my dash cluster the fuel and temp gauges don't work properly or have lights, and the trip computer beeps at me every time the AVG speed changes. Also the piece of the under-dash that covers the fuses has broken clips. My question is what are these problems most likely to be, and how much will they probably cost to fix?
suspension - cost depends on what is actually wrong. could be shattered strut bearings, swaybar links, tie rod ends, control arms, ball joints.... there's a fair bit could be stuffed
gurgling noise behind dash - bleed cooling system. when engine is warm, pop bonnet. on thermostat housing is a small screw. undo this. air will rush out. tighten screw when coolant flows out. cost = $0
dash - depends. if the needles are just sticky you could pull it apart and clean with prepsol, but if the senders or gauges themselves are stuffed....
as for the fuse cover clips, scab some from a wrecker

if you don't mind doing it when the gauges get stuck again give the dash abit of a wack.. if there abit sticky they should pop up to where they need to go.. if not it's your senders.
p.s i have never done this to my car![]()
I don't stay with my my wife for love, spite really, i won't leave her cause that'll make her happy!!
Yeah the old dash whack works but the lights out behind it are still a pain in the arse. And the beeping... Thanks for the help with the gurgling, Forgotten![]()
Any other ideas? Specially on the beeping?
